Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of ReviewChair, a platform for managing academic conferences and events. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use ReviewChair for an organization, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
Accounts
- Give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Tell us promptly at support@reviewchair.com if you think your account has been misused.
- You must be at least 16 to use ReviewChair.
Organizations and conferences
Organizations (for example universities, institutes and societies) subscribe to ReviewChair to run conferences and events. Each organization decides its own calls for papers, review process, decisions, fees and policies, and is responsible for them and for how it uses participants' data. ReviewChair provides the tools; it does not make editorial decisions.
Fees and payments
- Organizations pay an annual subscription to ReviewChair, invoiced in advance. Prices are shown in the product and on our pricing page.
- Registration fees, abstract review fees and article processing charges are set by the organizing institution and paid directly to it through our payment provider, Bachs. The organization is the seller of record for those payments.
- ReviewChair receives a platform fee of 10% of each such payment, capped at ₦5,000 per payment, deducted automatically. Bachs may also charge a processing fee; the organization chooses whether it or the payer bears it, and this is shown at checkout.
- Refunds of fees paid to an organization are decided and issued by that organization under its own policy.
Your content
You keep ownership of the papers, files, reviews and other content you submit. You give ReviewChair a limited licence to host, copy, process and display that content only as needed to run the service and the workflows you take part in — for example to share a submission with assigned reviewers, or to publish an accepted paper when the organizer publishes proceedings. You confirm you have the right to submit the content, including the agreement of your co-authors.
Peer review confidentiality
If you review or handle submissions, keep them confidential, use them only for the review, do not share them or upload them to other services, and declare conflicts of interest.
Acceptable use
Do not use ReviewChair to:
- break the law or infringe others' rights, including copyright;
- submit plagiarised, fabricated or deliberately misleading work;
- access accounts or data you are not authorized to access, or test, scrape or overload the service;
- upload malware, or send spam or harassing messages.
We may suspend or remove content or accounts that break these terms.
Availability and changes
We work to keep ReviewChair available and your data safe, but the service is provided as it is and may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may change features; we will give notice of changes that significantly affect paying organizations.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, ReviewChair is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made by organizations using the platform. Our total liability to an organization is limited to the subscription fees it paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using ReviewChair at any time and ask us to delete your account. Organizations can cancel their subscription; it ends at the end of the paid period. Records an organization must keep for its academic or financial obligations may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We may update them; the date above shows the latest version, and we will notify account holders of significant changes. Questions: support@reviewchair.com.
